Mission, Vision and Values

Firefighters with a lady who was saved from a fire by a smoke alarm fitted during a Home Fire Safety Visit by AF&RS Our Mission:
To improve public safety through prevention, protection and response.

Our Vision:
For our staff to be motivated and inspired to make all of our communities safer.

Our Values:
Integrity, Trust, Respect, Learning, Can-do, Openness.

We're sure that every person looking at our values would understand why we chose them. However, we have learnt that sometimes they mean different things to different people.

We asked some of our staff what their values mean to them and this is what they said:

Integrity - upholding our principles.
Trust - relying on our colleagues without question or doubt. The public having confidence in our abilities.
Respect - respecting people and property.  Having consideration for their feelings and belongings, and treating them with value and care.
Learning - continually learning from every experience so that we’re better prepared for the next situation.
Can-do - a positive approach to problems.
Openness - be willing to accept new ideas and be approachable.

Escape Routes
If there was a fire would you and your family know how to get out? The best way out of your home is the way you regularly come in, but make sure you have other escape routes in case it is blocked. Make sure escape routes are clear of obstacles.
